As Dry Leaves That Before The Wild Hurricane Fly

by Jon Johnson

This song is an ambient adventure created and inspired by the quote from the poem "Twas The Night Before Christmas" by Clement Clarke Moore. This is attempt to describe feelings and experiences as a young boy. The music also explores the aura or what I find mystical about December. In particular the night skies and the position of the Earth this time of year. Those who have experienced the magic of Christmas in their own way may find some pause in this piece. I know I carry with me many memories of joyous moments in time. I have one really fond "alone time" memory of an early Christmas morning sneaking downstairs to see if Santa brought us anything, and of how the house looked in the darkness. The reassuring silhouette of the Christmas Tree with it's majestic lights turned out in the darkness of the house when in another time of year the darkness would be threatening. We had a plastic life size Santa Claus that stood outside on our front porch, with lights out, I always paused to gaze out the a little window there to see the contrast to the night sky since that one Christmas morning. These were the types of things in my memory that added to the experience, often overlooked details that my meandering mind seemed to catch hold of.
